Anti-seepage Treatment for Ndue Dam Foundation – Lot 5, Cunene Province, Angola

Angola

The Ndue Dam Project, Lot 5, Section 71, is part of the Drought Relief Project located in Cunene Province, Angola, in the city of Cuvirai. Managed by the Ministry of Energy and Water Resources of Angola, the project aims to construct a 1,359-meter-long earth rock dam on the local river, providing a storage capacity of 170 million cubic meters. Upon completion, the dam will meet essential needs for local residents, including livestock drinking water, agricultural irrigation, and other livelihood support.
The project comprises four main components: the dam body, spillway and connecting bridge, diversion tunnel and multi-level intake tower, and the external road. The dam’s construction utilizes clay core wall earth rock dam technology, with the core wall designed in a ladder shape that spans the entire dam structure.
Our company is primarily responsible for constructing anti-seepage systems for the foundation and hub structure of the earth rock dam. The scope of work includes curtain grouting of approximately 24,000 meters, consolidation grouting of 7,000 meters, and high-pressure rotary jet grouting of 29,000 meters, along with anchor rod engineering to ensure the stability and longevity of the dam.

HK Airport 3rd Runway Lot 3303, Area 2D Corrugated Pipe Grouting & Sea-Mud Mixing

Hong Kong SAR

The Hong Kong International Airport, located in Chek Lap Kok, Lantau Island, New Territories, officially opened in 1998 with two operational runways. The construction of the third runway, involving land reclamation north of Airport Island, covers an area of approximately 650 hectares, equivalent to building a new airport. Once completed, the airport is expected to handle 120 million passengers annually and support a cargo volume of 10 million tons.
This project is overseen by the Hong Kong Airport Authority, with the joint venture of China Hydroelectric Corporation, China Power Construction, Baohua Construction, and Macau Construction Information Corporation serving as the general contractor. The scope of work includes the production and supply of grouting and sea mud mixed cement slurry for the lower corrugated pipe.
The total contract quantity comprises 7,664 cubic meters of corrugated pipe grouting and 130,000 cubic meters of sea mud mixed slurry supply. Our company is responsible for the project’s construction work, with the implementation period spanning from December 2021 to June 2022.

Shuibuya Hydropower Station Right Bank Grouting and Drainage Project on The Qingjiang River

Hubei, China

Hubei Qingjiang Shuibuya Hydropower station is the leading hub of Qingjiang Development. The installed capacity of the station is 1600MW, including the dam, underground powerhouse, spillway and other buildings. The 233-meter-high dam was the world's highest concrete-faced rockfill dam during the construction. The elevation of the grouting level holes on the right bank were 405m, 350m, 300m, 250m and 200m respectively. The construction began in August 2003 and was completed in April 2007.

The total footage of the grouting project was about 100,000m, and the deepest hole depth of the bottom flat hole curtain reached more than 120m.The number of grouting holes and branch holes was large, the section was small, and the height difference was large. As a result, a small-diameter orifice-closed inner circulation method was adopted for this project. The connection between the vertical curtain and horizontal curtain ensured that the overall anti-seepage effect of the curtain meet the design requirements.

The project won the "9th China Civil Engineering - Zhan Tianyou Award" and "International Milestone Engineering Award". The method of segmenting and batching cutting through the serial channel was adopted, which effectively solved the grouting problem of 15 boreholes with 200m high length and wide range in the serial section. Mortar, film bag cement and quick setting slurry grouting were used to guarantee the grouting quality in limestone dissolution sections.

Curtain Grouting Project of Pubugou Hydroelectric Dam on The Dadu River

Sichuan, China

Pubugou Hydropower station is a large-scale hydropower project, which mainly focuses on power generation and has integrated utilization benefits of flood control and sand barrier, etc. The installed capacity of the power station is 3300MW, with 6 mixed-flow units and a single unit capacity of 600MW. The hub of the power station is mainly composed of rockfill dam with gravel soil core wall, flood discharge and energy dissipation buildings, water diversion and power generation buildings, etc. The construction lasted from June 6, 2006 and until September 22, 2008.

The curtain grouting construction of dam, including curtain grouting of riverbed section and abutment section, was provided with a total of 8 grouting corridors on the left and right bank, bank slope and riverbed grouting gallery and other construction sites. The construction was carried out by small-bore closed hole with the maximum hole depth of 140m and curtain hole grouting of 210,000m. The project has won the honor of "14th China Civil Engineering Zhan Tianyou Award"; "Milestone Engineering Award of International Dam Commission"; and "First Prize of National Engineering Project Excellent Design".
